The Art and Design program places students in the center of the creative process and practice to solve problems, communicate ideas, and enhance the human experience. In a liberal arts setting, art and design allows for interdisciplinary studies that encourage students to approach creative challenges with broad critical thinking and a variety of cultural, social, and intellectual influences.
Minor
Over the course of 16 units (four classes), you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental integration of art and design with your primary area of interest. This curriculum also explores the multifaceted role of art and design in various aspects of employment and lifelong learning. You will acquire practical skills such as drawing, photography, video, graphic design, sculpture, and 2D and 3D design. Additionally, you will develop conceptual skills, including group projects, conceptual and iterative planning, and the ability to think creatively and outside the conventional boundaries.
Career Paths
Students who complete an Art and Design minor are able to apply their skills to fields such as illustration, graphic design, web design, digital media, marketing, education, arts administration, museum studies.
